Mr. Manning has been exonerated of the alleged murders of two elderly women. The Mississippi Supreme Court's ruling uncovered the state's deceitful act of concealing evidence, revealing that their star witness had fabricated lies to secure personal benefits.

In May of 2013, a small, dedicated team and I took to the airwaves, rallying listeners to prevent the unjust execution of Willie Manning. Together, we secured a stay of execution. Approximately 2 years later he was exonerated for the tragic murders of the elderly mother and daughter.
The second double murder conviction is of two Mississippi State University college students.

Manning was sentenced to death based on a narrative concocted by the sheriff, Dolph Bryan. No eyewitnesses, DNA, fingerprints, or fibers linked Manning to the crimes he was convicted of. Willie is currently on death row for an additional crime he did not commit.

The conviction of Mr. Manning who was sentenced to death for the murders of two Mississippi State students, now faces scrutiny due to newly discovered evidence pointing toward his wrongful conviction. This isn’t the first time evidence has been presented to the court based on untruthful testimonies about Willie Manning by witnesses eager to cut deals with the state by providing false testimonies.
Exonerated For The Elderly Mother and Daughter Murders Mr. Manning was unjustly condemned to death for two separate double murders and has been exonerated of the 1993, case of murdering an elderly mother and daughter in Starkville, Mississippi. The Mississippi Supreme Court recognized vital evidence was hidden, showing that the state's main witness lied for self-benefit.

He currently resides on death row, maintaining his innocence. He has been exonerated of one set of murders.
Willie Manning's journey through the criminal justice system is marked by controversial trials and contentious debates over evidence and it's interpretation.

The first conviction relates to the 1992 murders of two Mississippi State University students. Manning was convicted in 1994, primarily based on circumstantial evidence and testimony that was later questioned.
The second conviction, stemming from a separate 1993, case involving the murders of two elderly women, further complicated Manning's legal battles. In this case, his conviction was also based on evidence that has been heavily scrutinized over the years.

Critics of Manning's convictions point to several key issues: the lack of direct physical evidence linking him to the crimes, the reliance on testimony from witnesses with ulterior motives, and the absence of DNA testing that could potentially exonerate him. Advocates for Manning argue that these factors collectively cast a shadow of doubt over his guilt, suggesting a miscarriage of justice.
The Willie Manning case serves as a critical reminder of the importance of diligence, fairness, and transparency in the legal process. It raises significant questions about the death penalty and its application in cases where conclusive evidence is not present.

As we continue to advocate for a just and equitable legal system, it is imperative to closely examine cases such as Willie Manning's. It is not just about one man's fate; it's about the integrity of the judicial system and our collective moral and ethical responsibility to ensure that justice is truly served.

As users of social media, we have the power to bringing attention to such cases, but sparking discussions and demanding accountability. We brought Justice for The Scott Sisters, and Marissa Alexander, as well as, a stay of execution in 2013, for Willie Manning, and an exoneration for one of Willie Manning’s death sentences. We also obtained equitable medical treatment for numerous inmates.
Let's use these platforms to advocate for a thorough review and reconsideration in the case of Willie Manning, and in doing so, uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

Willie Jerome Manning has remained on death row in Mississippi since November
1994, consistently proclaiming his innocence. Throughout 2023, his case has
experienced notable ups and downs. Manning's legal representatives are vigorously
contesting the state's attempts to schedule his execution, steadfast in their
stance that he faces capital punishment for a crime he did not commit. As of November 30, 2023, the Mississippi Supreme Court has mandated
a hold on the state's request to schedule an execution date for Willie Jerome
Manning.
This decision is pending the court's review of a recently submitted
petition.

The petition presents new evidence that should exonerate Manning. In reaction to the Attorney General's motion to set an
execution date, Mr. Manning's defense team has applied for post-conviction relief.
This is part of a continuous effort to reverse his conviction in a 1992 double
murder case.
The decision on whether to set an execution date for Willie Manning
has been delayed, with a particular focus on DNA testing. This aspect of the
case is pivotal as it would bring forth new evidence relevant to Manning's
claims of innocence. Overall, the situation is complex and ongoing, with the
legal process still in motion as Manning's defense seeks to prove his innocence
and overturn the unjust conviction.

Willie Jerome Manning "Is Sentenced To Die For A Crime He Did Not Commit" His
Attorneys Say, As They Fight State Efforts To Set An Execution Date. According to Mississippi Today
"Krissy Nobile, Manning’s attorney and the director of the Mississippi Office of Capital Post-Conviction Counsel, said Manning’s defense team petitioned in September for post-conviction relief based on newly discovered evidence and scientific developments undermining Manning’s conviction.” Attorneys submitted the petition days before the U.S. Supreme Court denied a request to have evidence in the case tested at a specialized laboratory. The state has not responded to that petition or considered the evidence, Nobile said. The State instead is steamrolling toward execution even though there is compelling evidence that Manning may in fact, be innocent,” Nobile said.

“Executions are not the place to act first and ask questions later.”

In the quaint town of Maplewood, Mrs. Agatha, a kind-hearted octogenarian, eagerly awaited the arrival of Michael Green, a local handyman. He was recommended by a flyer at the town's community center, boasting affordable rates and quick service. Agatha needed a few odd jobs around her house, including painting her kitchen ceiling, pruning some small trees, and building a roof for her pump house.
On a sunny Monday, Michael arrived, exuding charm and confidence. Agatha, pleased to finally have help, showed him around, discussing the tasks in detail. Michael nodded, assuring her everything would be done by the week's end.

As the days passed, Agatha noticed Michael’s haphazard approach. The ceiling, once spotless, began peeling horribly after he 'painted' it. Outside, two of the small trees remained untouched, their branches mocking her from the yard. However, it was the pump house that became the heart of this woeful tale.
One afternoon, Agatha heard a loud crash from the backyard. Rushing out, she found Michael hastily packing his tools. The pump house was in shambles, pipes exposed and broken. Michael, avoiding her gaze, mumbled something about a 'minor mishap' and assured her he had turned off the water to prevent further damage. He hastily asked for payment, insisting on cash, and promised to return the next day to fix everything.

With a sinking heart, Agatha handed over the money, an amount that had taken her months to save. The next day, and many days after, Michael Green was nowhere to be seen. Calls went unanswered, and a text message promising his return proved empty.
The real disaster unfolded when Agatha, hoping the situation wasn't as dire as it seemed, turned the breaker on. Water spewed like a fountain from the pump house, flooding her backyard. Heartbroken and betrayed, Agatha had to summon a plumber, incurring additional costs for repairs that Michael had caused.
It was then that Agatha learned of the Elderly Scam and Fraud Task Force through the FBI. With a heavy heart, she filed a complaint against Michael Green, detailing the deception and shoddy work. She also discovered national and state sites dedicated to reporting fraud, determined to prevent others from falling victim to such scams.
Agatha’s story spread through Maplewood, serving as a stern warning to all, especially the elderly, about the perils of trusting without verifying. Her experience echoed the timeless advice: Never pay anyone before they finish the work, a lesson learned at a high price but shared in the hope of protecting others from similar fates.

These mistakes can result in the imprisonment of innocent individuals, the disruption of families, and the erosion of public trust in the justice system. While wrongful convictions can be caused by a variety of factors, there are several steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of these errors and ensure that justice is served.

Ensure Adequate Legal Representation
One of the most significant factors contributing to wrongful convictions is inadequate legal representation. Many individuals who are charged with a crime cannot afford an attorney and are instead appointed a public defender. Unfortunately, public defenders are often overworked and under-resourced, which can lead to mistakes and oversights in the legal process. To reduce the risk of wrongful convictions, it is essential to ensure that all individuals charged with a crime have access to adequate legal representation.

Address Racial Bias
Racial bias is another significant factor contributing to wrongful convictions. Studies have shown that people of color are more likely to be wrongfully convicted than white individuals. This bias can occur at any stage of the criminal justice process, from policing to the courtroom. To address this issue, it is essential to acknowledge and address racial bias in all aspects of the justice system. This can include training for law enforcement officers and judges, as well as efforts to diversify the legal profession.

Improve Eyewitness Identification Procedures
Eyewitness misidentification is a leading cause of wrongful convictions. Research has shown that eyewitnesses are often unreliable, and their memories can be influenced by a variety of factors. To reduce the risk of misidentification, it is essential to improve eyewitness identification procedures. This can include using sequential lineups instead of simultaneous ones, providing witnesses with clear instructions, and using double-blind administration, where the administrator does not know who the suspect is.

Use Forensic Science Properly
Forensic science can be a powerful tool in solving crimes and bringing criminals to justice. However, when it is misused or misinterpreted, it can lead to wrongful convictions. To reduce the risk of these errors, it is essential to use forensic science properly. This can include ensuring that forensic evidence is collected and analyzed properly, using only scientifically validated techniques, and providing clear and accurate testimony in court.

Ensure Access to Post-Conviction Relief
Even with these measures in place, wrongful convictions can still occur. To address this issue, it is essential to ensure that individuals who have been wrongfully convicted have access to post-conviction relief. This can include access to DNA testing, clemency, and compensation for those who have been wrongfully imprisoned.

In conclusion, wrongful convictions are a significant problem in our criminal justice system. While there is no foolproof way to eliminate the risk of these errors entirely, there are several steps that can be taken to reduce the likelihood of wrongful convictions and ensure that justice is served. By ensuring adequate legal representation, addressing racial bias, improving eyewitness identification procedures, using forensic science properly, and providing access to post-conviction relief, we can work towards a more just and equitable criminal justice system.

Nancy Lockharthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01059065407284718833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1086194333098511319.post-34409918566422441202023-02-24T05:22:00.002-08:002023-02-24T05:22:36.820-08:00Publicizing For Support - Nancy Lockhart

If you or someone you know has been wrongfully convicted and you want to seek public support to help overturn the conviction, here are some steps you can take:

Gather evidence: Collect all the evidence related to the case, including police reports, court documents, witness statements, and any other relevant information that can help prove your innocence.

Develop a media strategy: Create a plan on how you will communicate your story to the public. However, this system is far from perfect, and wrongful convictions are an unfortunate consequence of its imperfections. A wrongful conviction occurs when an innocent person is found guilty of a crime they did not commit. In this blog post, we will explore the causes and consequences of wrongful convictions, as well as some of the steps that can be taken to prevent them.

Causes of Wrongful Convictions:

There are a variety of reasons why innocent people may be convicted of crimes. Some of the most common causes include:

False Confessions: Sometimes, innocent people may falsely confess to a crime they did not commit, often as a result of pressure from law enforcement or due to mental health issues.

Eyewitness Misidentification: Eyewitnesses can sometimes identify the wrong person, particularly if they are under stress or if the perpetrator and the innocent person look similar.

Inadequate Defense: Sometimes, an innocent person may be convicted due to inadequate representation by their defense attorney. They may not have the necessary resources to mount an effective defense, or may not have access to critical evidence that could prove their innocence.

Police Misconduct: Unfortunately, police misconduct can lead to wrongful convictions. This may include fabricating evidence, coercing witnesses, or using excessive force.

Consequences of Wrongful Convictions:

The consequences of wrongful convictions can be devastating for those who are falsely accused and their families. In addition to losing their freedom, the wrongly convicted may experience social isolation, stigma, and difficulty finding employment or housing. They may also face financial ruin due to legal fees and the loss of income while incarcerated. The impact of wrongful convictions is not limited to the individual, as it can also erode public trust in the justice system and lead to wrongful convictions of others.

Preventing Wrongful Convictions:

There are several steps that can be taken to prevent wrongful convictions, including:

Improved Police Training: Police officers can receive training on how to avoid bias in their investigations, how to conduct proper interrogations, and how to avoid coercing false confessions.

Better Forensic Science: Advances in forensic science can help ensure that evidence is accurately collected and analyzed. This can help prevent wrongful convictions based on faulty evidence.

Enhanced Defense Representation: Providing adequate funding and resources to defense attorneys can help ensure that the innocent are properly represented in court.

Reforms to the Criminal Justice System: Changes to the criminal justice system, such as reforms to sentencing guidelines, can help reduce the likelihood of wrongful convictions.

Conclusion:

Wrongful convictions are a tragic consequence of the imperfections of the criminal justice system. The causes of wrongful convictions are numerous, and they can have devastating consequences for those who are falsely accused. However, there are steps that can be taken to prevent wrongful convictions, including improved police training, better forensic science, enhanced defense representation, and reforms to the criminal justice system. By taking these steps, we can work towards a more just and equitable society.
Nancy Lockharthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01059065407284718833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1086194333098511319.post-26496023641836188812022-10-02T11:38:00.010-07:002022-10-02T12:07:47.413-07:00CALL TO ACTION FOR Kastellio Vaughan

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>

I am writing
to express urgency regarding the need to provide AL DOC disabled inmate with
quality healthcare.

Mr. Kastellio Demarcus Vaughan – AIS#:

outside of the Alabama Department of Corrections. Mr. Vaughn is a disabled
inmate. He cannot walk, he’s using a wheelchair,
and is unable to carry out activities of daily living. He currently wears diapers as undergarments and
is afraid of losing his legs and his life. He is emaciated and malnourished.
His sister, Kassie Vaughan has also stated he vomited waste.

Kastellio
told Ms. Kassie Vaughan that his feet are the size of footballs, and the back
of his legs and the top of his feet are hard and discolored. The hole in his
chest is still there, and he thinks it is infected.

Alabama
Department of Corrections states Mr. Vaughan signed a waiver to have his
medical records released. The question is, was he competent to sign the waiver,
if he indeed signed it, and as sick as he is, did he know what he was signing?

Alabama
Department of Corrections also said that, “… Vaughan was admitted to Jackson
Hospital in Montgomery on August 5 for a bowel obstruction. He then underwent
surgery. Following the surgery, AL DOC states Vaughan opted to be discharged
Against Medical Advice on August 10.” Alabama News Network Article

If Mr.

medication. If so, Mr. Vaughan was not able to make a competent discharge
decision under the influence of prescribed painkillers.

Mr.
Vaughan’s Civil Rights are being violated as a disabled human being. He was movedhoused at Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County, Alabama. Please do not allow him to waste away.

approaching Lewis’ vehicle, Falvey smelled a strong aroma of burnt
marijuana coming from the vehicle, and when he got to the vehicle, he
noticed Lewis’ eyes were bloodshot and had a strong odor of burnt
marijuana on his breath. It was determined at the time that Lewis’
driver’s license was suspended and that he was driving without
insurance.

Lewis admitted to Falvey

place Lewis in handcuffs after developing probable cause that Lewis was
driving his vehicle under the influence and may have illegal narcotics,

We need you to take action NOW.

On September 13th, 2021 Julius Jones' had a commutation hearing,
where for the first time in over 20 years, his story was shared and
heard. His defense team laid out the compelling evidence of his
innocence and the many reasons he should be recommended for commutation.
Surrogates for Julius also talked about his desire to give back to his
community if given the opportunity to get out of prison.

The Pardon and Parole Board voted 3-1 to commute Julius’ sentence to
life with the possibility of parole. But Governor Stitt denied this
recommendation and is now delaying Justice for Julius even further - in
favor of having a clemency hearing on October 26th.

The delay in action from the Governor is devastating as on October
15th he'll be put on "death watch," alone and monitored in a cell
without any possessions until he is given clemency or executed. Julius
and his family cannot be put through any more pain and suffering.

This is truly the last chance to save Julius' life. Contact Governor Stitt and the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board TODAY and ask them to grant Julius clemency.
